Additives

SM 8611 Mirror Effect Decreaser: Add 0-20% to decrease the mirror effect.

Thinning & Cleaning

Stir well before every use. The ink can be used without thinning at normal condition.
When thinning is needed, use C-002 for other colored Mirror Inks at up to 5-10%.
Never use other solvent or may suffer blocking or lack of adhesion.
“Screen Cleaner N” is recommended to clean the stencil.

Printing

PC and treated PET film are the recommended substrates.
Print patterns or mirror frames first with inks suitable for the substrate, then print the Mirror Ink on backside of the substrate, then overprint with Teikoku MIB Ink. The MIR Mirror Ink can adhere to th substrates, but to avoid getting scars overprinting is strongly recommended.
T-250-300 is recommended as stencil. Thickness of the dried ink layer should be less than 3 microns, otherwise the Mirror Ink layer might peel off by the overprint.
For the squeegee, 70-80 degree hardness and 60-70 degree angle are recommended.
Coverage of 40 m2/kg can be expected with 270 mesh.

Drying

Heated drying is strongly recommended (more than 30 minutes at 80°C).

Overprinting:

After the Mirror ink is dried completely, overprinting with MIB Ink is recommended to prevent scratches on the mirror layer.

Standard colors of MIB Ink are as under.

001 Victoria
168 Scarlet
178 Red

Printing conditions of cover print with MIB Ink are: Pot-life is about 3-4 hours after adding the Catalyst. Coverage with T-250 mesh is about 40m2/kg.

Caution:

Viscosity of the residual ink on the stencil will be higher than virgin ink. Residual ink should not be mixed with virgin ink. It can be collected in a container and reused after reducing the viscosity to that of the virgin ink with C-001 for Mirror Silver and C-002 for Mirror Gold. Mirror 8100 Silver, Mirror 8230 Rich Gold and Mirror 8263 Pale Gold can not be used mixed with each other.

Preliminary test should be done at your site with actual conditions to confirm mirror effect before start commercial run.
