ISX-HF Screen Ink(Halogen-free, isophoron-free, Eco-friendly, one-pack Ink for Insert Molding)

Product profile

ISX-HF is a one-pack ink for insert molding that has high stretch capability (elongation) and is easily workable with no pot life.

In addition, ISX-HF is environmentally-friendly, being free of Benzene, Toluene, Xylene and Isophorone, as well as being manufactured without Halogen compound (Chlorine (Cl) and Bromine (Br)) raw materials.

ISX-HF provides good adhesion especially to Polycarbonate Sheet (PC) and PC-type injection molding resins, and is suitable for Film Insert Molding (FIM) without a binder. In particular, ISX-HF demonstrates its best capabilities in sheet forming processes such as pneumatic forming and vacuum forming.

No.139:Technical Report about 1 Pack Ink for FIM/IMD [ISX Ink Series]
No.137: ISX Ink Series (1 pack Screen Ink for Insert Molding)

Note: No. 137 and 139 above addresses ISX-HF, not ISX ink.

Application

Pattern printing on PC sheet, Treated PET film for film insert molding.
Suitable for IMD/FIM applications with PC, PC/ABS, ABS, PMMA (Acrylic), resins.

Special Features

Halogen compounds, Bromine (Br), Chlorine (Cl) are not intentionally used in raw materials.

It is a one pack, that provides good workability with excellent suitability to post-forming at high temperature and pressure.

Attention

Refrain from using solvents and catalysts other than specified ones as Halogen components may interfuse. Before using, check squeegee rubber, emulsion, substrate and other equipment for halogen content. Some materials may require an annealing treatment before usage; a preliminary checking is recommended.

Stirring, Thinning & Cleaning

Stir well before every use.

Use Z-705 (Standard) thinners with 515% dilution. G-003 (Fast dry) or Z-004 (Slow dry) thinners are also available.

Avoid excessive thinning as it may decrease printability, forming suitability, and adhesion of the ink and may cause lack of opacity or pinholes.

Screen Cleaner N is recommended to clean the stencil.

SM-40 Defoamer. Add 0.51.0% to improve the defoaming and leveling.

Printing

T-200270 mesh is recommended.

Coverage at 250 mesh is about 35/kg.

Drying/Curing

Heated drying is necessary. Tack-free drying is about 3 minutes at 80. Complete drying is 90 minutes at 90. Drying time varies depending on drying conditions such as room temperature, humidity, type of dryer, printed area, substrate, mesh of stencil, etc. Preliminary drying test at actual printing conditions is strongly recommended.

Caution

Insert molding is a very sophisticated system in which many factors such as substrate, pattern printing inks, binder, printing conditions, sequence of printings, drying condition, pre-forming conditions, molding resin, molding conditions, design of the mould (type, position and number of the gate) and injection conditions will affect the quality of the finished product. Preliminary testing under actual conditions before commercial run is strongly recommended.

Safety and Handling

Flammable. UN Class: Not included. UN No.: Not included

Use safety gloves and eyeglasses to protect skin and eyes. If the ink or coating contacts the skin, wash with plenty of water and soap. In case of contact with the eyes, wash with plenty of water and consult with a doctor. Containers should be tightly closed immediately after use, and stored in a cool, dark place. MSDS is available. Please ask for a copy, and read it carefully before handling materials. Please follow the instructions.
