ISX Screen Ink (One-pack screen ink for Insert Molding)

Teikoku ISX Screen Ink is a one pack, solvent-type insert molding ink with far superior elongation characteristics in comparison to previous insert molding inks.
ISX ink has good adhesion to Polycarbonate Sheet (PC), PC-type injection molding resins, and is suitable for Film Insert Molding (FIM) without an injection molding binder. ISX demonstrates its true abilities in sheet forming processes such as pneumatic forming and vacuum forming.
ISX ink is suitable for single-piece molded part production in a wide range of applications like automobile interiors, electronic nameplates, and daily commodities.

Application

♦ Design printing to PC Sheet, Treated PC/PBT film
♦ Suitable Injection Forming Resins: PC, PC/ABS, ABS, PMMA (Acrylic)

Special Features

♦ Environmentally friendly ink: Free of Benzene, Toluene, Xylene, Cyclohexanone, and Isophorone.
♦ Good workability as it is a one pack, heat-curing ink with high temperature and pressure forming resistance.
♦ Superior stretching capability in the forming process.
♦ Standard colors with good heat resistance and good adhesion to injected resin.
♦ Ability to coat only specifically demarcated parts with screen-printing.

Thinning, Mixing , Cleaning

♦ Stir well before every use.
♦ Use Z-705 (Standard) thinners with 5~15% dilution. 10% dilution is recommended for standard applications.
♦ Avoid excessive thinning as it may decrease printability, forming suitability, and adhesion of the ink and may cause lack of opacity or pinholes.
♦ Do not use other solvents as they cause blocking and lack of adhesion.
Screen Cleaner N is recommended to clean the stencil.

Additives

♦ SM-40 Defoamer: Add 0.5~1.0% to improve the defoaming and leveling.

Printing

♦ T-200~270 mesh is recommended.
♦ Coverage at 250 mesh is 35-40 m2/kg.

Drying/Curing

Heated drying is required ; while tack-free time is 10 minutes at room temperature (25°C ).
♦ Initial drying time is approximately 3 minutes in a box dryer at 80°C, final drying time is 90 minutes in a box dryer at 90°C.
♦ Curing, drying, and forming suitability may be affected by size of printed area, mesh, ink layer thickness, printing environment (temperature & humidity), and dryer performance. Also over-curing the lower layer, in multi layer printings, may cause lack of opacity . Adjust the drying conditions after confirming the preliminary drying test results under actual conditions.

Standard Colors

000 Medium 234 Light Yellow 581 Magenta 911 Black
001 Victoria 240 Light Yellow 611 White 971 Black
166 Red 277 Opaque Reddish Yellow 671 White Pianoblack*
168 Scarlet 391 Blue 791Green
182 Brilliant Red 519 Orange 821 Violet
*Black color overprinting on Piano Black is required.

Caution

♦ In various forming processes such as vacuum forming, pneumatic forming and mold forming, or in the Film Insert Molding process (in which injected resin integrated with substrate), the finished product may be affected by any of the following: the type of substrate, the ink used in pattern printing, the printing conditions, the printing order, the drying method, the forming resin, the mold (type, position of the mold and shape, number of gates), the injection conditions, etc. Preliminary testing under actual conditions is strongly recommended before a commercial run.

Safety and Handling

♦ Use safety gloves and goggles. If ink comes in contact with skin, wash with soap and plenty of water. If ink comes in contact with eyes, wash with plenty of water and consult with a doctor.
♦ Containers should be closed tightly after use and stored in a cool, dark place.
♦ MSDS is available upon request. Read it carefully before handling products and use all ink products responsibly.
